Erykah Badu’s 1997 debut, Baduizm, established her as the undisputed champion of left-eld R&B. She’d eventually be crowned QUEEN OF NEO-SOUL, but she was making vocal spiritual jazz that you could feel and move to more than anything. And, in a short three years after Baduizm’s release, Badu’s follow up would stretch even those boundaries. It’s 1998.
